Is she still little, or did she grow up?

As Kaylin's birthday has approached, I have been amused by the fact that she seems to be caught inbetween still being a little girl and changing into, well, not quite as little of a girl. For her birthday she was still asking for barbies, but also was requesting more grown up items, such as shoes and lotions and hats, being very specific in the style and trendiness of these items. Tonight she was saying our family prayer and she first was thankful she was turning 8 so she could be a member of the church, and I was thinking how grown up that seemed, but then she immediately followed that by asking for a good nights sleep and that she wouldn't stay up all night being too excited about her birthday. What an amusing age she is at!

Last Day as a 7 year old

Well, the last day of Kaylin's 7 year old life arrived today, and as you can see, she is in mourning for her childhood that is so rapidly slipping away from her! Luckily she has her baptism to look forward to in a couple of days, so I think she will be able to fin the will to go on!

Trip to the Tucson Zoo

The kids and I got to take a trip to the zoo a few weeks ago during a visit to Tucson. Scott's Mom and our Sister-in-Law Mandi and her son Tyler came along for the fun! Lindsey and Tyler are just 4 months apart and it is fun to see them play with each other...or give kisses...that won't be acceptable forever, but for now it is soooo cute!
Feeding the giraffes are always a highlight of the trip...even if their tongues are long and dripping with gooey slobber!
I kinda had to make Lindsey feed the giraffe. She wasn't afraid of the Giraffe, so much as afraid of the slime!
Kaylin was an old pro, as this was not her first experiece feeding the giraffe.
Here they are, the cute monsters taking a break near the end of the fun day at the zoo.
And of course, it wouldn't be complete if I weren't able to make my surprise appearance in the pictures! I forgot my camera, so Kathy and Mandi were kind enough to take pictures for me.

Visit from cousins Isaac and Xavi

isaac visit

My cousin Isaac and his son Xavi made a rare visit to Phoenix last month, causing a gathering of family from my Mom's side. My Granma Pomeroy drove up from Patagonia, Aunt Gene and Uncle Del were also there (Aunt Gene is my Grandma's sister) along with their son Mike and his wife Jewell, his daughter Janet and her kids (somehow they escaped the wrath of my camera), their daughter Karen and her husband Jim, my family, and Steph and her family. We met at Peter Piper Pizza and had a good time catching up!

The New Neighbors

So, as I mentioned before, we got some new neighbors, the Nelsons. It has been a lot of fun having someone so close to hang out with. I know Stephanie lives less than a mile away, but somehow it is so much easier to just let your kids walk across the street to play than to load up in the car.

This first picture is a repeat picture from Lindsey's bday, but it's all I got of Dan and Linsey. They are a lot of fun and like to have game night, so it looks like I might finally get Scott to play games with me! Dan is in dental school, so aren't seeing much of him now, but hopefully we are keeping Linsey company!

This is their little boy Rayce. He is 21 months and is sooooo cute!

This is Danielle. She is 6 and she and Kaylin and Hailey play together every free second they can find! She is a lot of fun.

Wanna fight?

We had a portrait session with one of our good friends Cindy Price and this ended up on our camera...I think Kaylin took it. Maybe she is a budding photographer herself! Anyway, you should go visit Lily p studio in my blog list links and maybe we are still on her blog somewhere. She did a great job and now we are at the hard part of deciding which ones to get!
